Current Halifax weather

Halifax Stanfield is located about 15 miles north of Dartmouth and is the largest airport in the Maritimes.  It is an anchor and feeder airport for Air Canada and West Jet.  It is also handles flights by Flair Airlines, Porter Airlines, Pascon Aviation, Bermudair,  Air Saint-Pierre, and PAL Airlines.  It also is home to seasonal airlines such as Sunwing and Air Transat.

US carriers American, Delta and United have returned to Halifax Stanfield.  American has agreed  to come back as a seasonal route. 

​

Air Canada and Westjet have non-stop service to Europe, with Air Canada having year-round service to London (Gatwick).  Condor, Discover, and Icelandair have season service to Europe.  Edelweiss will be coming in 2025.

​

Cargo flights are increasing in Halifax with FedEX, Purolator, ASL, Korean Air Cargo, CargoJet and others.

​

There is also increased business jet traffic and military stopovers.   Halifax also handles many flight diversions for medical and mechanical emergencies.

The airport is far enough away from Halifax/Dartmouth proper that monitoring from home is spotty at best, although some parts in the city may be just fine.  Your best bet from downtown is the Tower and Terminal frequencies.  That said, experiment a bit and try getting the ATIS.  It you get it, try some of the FBOs and ground support frequencies.

As always, the better the antenna the more you'll hear.
